My Post Partum Bod

One of the challenges a new mother faces after giving birth is finding comfort w/in her own skin. While everyone’s experience is a little different, the bodily changes can be jarring & frustrating, especially when you-time has dwindled down to the unpredictable length of naptime.

To be honest though, I don’t hate my post-partum body. Sure, I’m “softer” than I was when living a more fitness centric lifestyle but this is the first time I don’t find myself obsessing over what my body looks like.

My body is amazing! It created, nurtured, & gave birth to a healthy, chubby, little human. The changes to my body are only evidence of that.

I had planned on getting back in tiptop shape by 3 months post-partum but the reality has been that my newborn needs me & my priorities lie w/ him. There are now more important things than getting rid of back fat.

However, there is definitely a need to take time for yourself – not necessarily to get back to the pre-pregnancy body you once had, but rather like oxygen masks on an airplane, you need to take care of you before you can take care of someone else.

Patience – easy on yourself, let your body heal – if you listen to your body, you’ll know when you can take on more rigorous activity w/out peeing yourself. Eat a healthy diet for you & baby. Feeling good is more important than “looking good”.
