My Favorite Thanksgiving Recipes
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we wanted to share some of our favorite recipes for the holiday that gives the go ahead to gluttony! On this turkey day, feel free to eat all your heart’s desire, but most especially, we hope you’re able to celebrate w/ the ones you love.
▼ THE BIRD
1. Brine – the best way to make sure your turkey comes out super moist. Soak the turkey overnight in a combination of: fresh rosemary, basil, peppercorns, juice from 2 lemons & 2 oranges.
Tip: for each gallon of water needed to cover the bird, add 1 cup of kosher salt & 1 cup brown sugar. Rinse before rubbing the turkey w/ the brine.
2. Mirepoix – trio of celery, carrots & onions. Add a can of broth to pan. Place bird on top.
3. Baste – be sure to baste your bird to avoid drying! This is done by spooning the pan’s juices over the turkey every 20 minutes.
▼ THE VEG
The main ingredient in this dish is purple yams. Not only are they a beautiful hue but they’re also high in phytochemicals (which help fight cancer).
A commonly used alternative is orange sweet potatoes. These are high in beta-carotene, which is good for your eyes! Both are low in fat & you can opt to leave the skin on for extra nutrients.
Add plenty of marshmallows on top & toast for to make it decadent for the festivities!
▼ THE DESSERT
And for those of us w/ an inevitable sweet tooth, this pumpkin cheesecake will cure that!
Just like the way we add our personal flair to current trends, recipes are no different. For this one, we like using fresh pumpkin & buttload of extra cinnamon! ;)
