Rui Cheng is a Shanghai-based personal style consultant with over a decade of experience in New York’s fashion world. Her collaborations include working with designers Vivienne Tam, Marithe Francois Girbaud, Helmut Lang & Issey Miyake. She styled many editorial test shoots w/ fashion photographers as well. Other works include personal shopper for Jerry Bruckheimer (Issey Miyake) & Sean Avery (Helmut Lang).
Growing up, Rui studied ballet & always admired the way the dancers dressed while warming up. A bit tattered, grungy, comfortable, cozy but always stylish… combined w/ the individual styles she saw on the streets of her hometown New York that ended up inspiring her.
Now in Shanghai, another major metropolitan city, she educates her clients on what works best for them, she empowers them to own their bodies & exhibit their true selves through their style.
“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
What she gives her clients is an objective view & the tools they need to feel good in what they wear. She teaches them how to accentuate their assets & de-emphasize their flaws. Whether dressing clients for the red carpet, styling fashion spreads in magazines like Shanghai Tatler & City Weekend or dressing models on the catwalk for Lawless brand, she brings her innate grunge-chic fashion sensibility to everything she does, while still helping each client look like an individual.
Rui believes, “Being beautiful is not about being young or thin. It’s about feeling great about the way you look, no matter your size, shape, age or budget. Looking good is something that everyone deserves. All women & men should look beautiful & embrace what they love most. It’s one of the best investments you can make.” Fashion doesnt discriminate. Learn how to dress the way you want to feel, and watch as your newfound confidence and strength help you achieve your life goals.
Whatever you think, you are!
